Croeso and welcome to Shotwick Lake Sailing

Shotwick Lake is situated on the Welsh, English border on the edge of the Dee estuary. We have members from North Wales, The Wirral, Chester and North West England. 

A family club we pride ourselves on our community and are an affiliated RYA Training Centre running sailing and windsurfing courses for both juniors and adults alike.

Shifty winds and changeable placings!

Sunday 23rd March: Early Spring Series 5/6. Todays race report from Sailing Secretary Simon Dolman. Race 1: The first race kicked off with some drama as a crowd at the favoured starboard end of the start line resulted in a few casualties. The light, shifty winds made for tricky conditions, but they also allowed some sailors to fetch the windward mark directly, gaining an early advantage. Early Spring Series races 3/4 and return to sailing

It was a day where the Laser (ILCA) class locked out the top two podium places in both races. Gwyn Jones placed first in both races, with Mark Nield and Conrad Brown taking second place in race 3 and 4 respectively. Early Spring Series - winds variable!

Winds variable summed up the first two races of the Early Spring Series. 19 boats took to the water on what was a superb spring day, complete with a gentle breeze and bright sunshine. Spreading the word!

What a great day at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village meeting lots of potential new members. Sailing the Oppi was extremely popular and the whole day was a great success, thanks to organiser Beth and the many club members who came out to spread the word. Commodore takes the 2025 Brass Monkey Series

The final race of the Brass Monkey Series took place on Sunday March 2nd. With significantly more gentle winds than those that led to the abandonment of race 4 the Sunday before, Commodore Jeremy Cooper coaxed his Lightning dinghy to a narrow victory, coming in 39 seconds ahead (corrected time) of Kieran Lewis in his Aero 7.
