Junior fun day

Yes it is short notice, but here is an opportunity for our junior members to get away from their screens and enjoy a fun day on Wednesday Feb 18th (half term). The activities will be shore-based and it will be a chance for our younger members to not only have fun but to get together for the first time in 2026. Led by experienced instructor Jude and her team, the day will be a mix of sailing related games and challenges. It will run from 10 until 3pm. You may even get chance to rig and sail a dinghy in the clubhouse! Hot drinks provided but bring a packed lunch. This is just one of several initiatives the club is setting up this year. There will be a further four days of fun during the Easter holidays (Weds/Thurs April 1/2nd and 8/9th), when everyone should be able to get out/in the water. 

The Club also recognises the need to create a safe environment for juniors, those new to sailing and our more experienced youngsters, to get onto the water with their families. To help with this a Saturday afternoon junior sailing session will run every other weekend, starting in early April. Parent-led, this will be the chance for parents, grandparents and guardians to get on the water with their youngsters, in the presence of a dedicated support team and safety boat. Unlike the fun days, a responsible adult needs to stay with the junior member(s) for the full session. As the sessions evolve expect on the water games and challenges galore! Our more experienced juniors are encouraged to participate too! 

There will be more information on these junior initiatives over the next few weeks including how they can then lead on to more formal RYA-based training. The club is an RYA training centre and will soon be releasing the 2026 training programme. Note all participants must be club members.
