The final race of the Brass Monkey Series took place on Sunday March 2nd. With significantly more gentle winds than those that led to the abandonment of race 4 the Sunday before, Commodore Jeremy Cooper coaxed his Lightning dinghy to a narrow victory, coming in 39 seconds ahead (corrected time) of Kieran Lewis in his Aero 7.
Helming his Supernova, visitor Eric Haselden gained the final podium place, cementing his position in third place overall for the Series.
The other overall Series placings went to Simon Dolman (Solo) in second place and Jeremy Cooper (Lightning), the Brass Monkey Series winner for 2025 (pictured above).
Next Sunday (March 9th) sees the start of the Early Spring Series. Racers will have the opportunity to compete in two races each Sunday over the next five weeks, with the first race kicking off a little earlier at 10:30h.
24 boats competed across the five races of the Brass Monkey Series. Racing Secretary Simon Dolman commented.
It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout for the first race series! The competitive spirit coupled with great camaraderie made for a fab start to the season. It was especially pleasing to welcome a number of new and returning sailors to the club eager to get involved. Looking forward to catching up with you all next week for the start of the Early Spring Series!
