Supernova

One of the many travellers out of Shotwick recently was James Stark in his Supernova. James headed to Blithfield Sailing Club for the Craftinsure 2025 Supernova Inlands Championships fighting it out with over 70 other Supernova helms over a lively weekend. But let us hear from James…
It was great to see all 70 boats in the shore, even if they didn't all sail.
Blithfield is a fantastic venue and great water to sail on. Especially with the top Supernova sailors in the country. Not only was Bruce (my boat) the oldest to sail this weekend, but the only MK1 to sail, too.
Two back-to-back races before lunch, then two more after, on day one, kept us all very busy. Day two had two races in the morning. We had the best sailing winds, with sustained speed of 15 knots gusting to 30 knots for both days, it was a blast.
My third race was a great start... I led the fleet by quite a bit until I looked back and realised I had set my watch wrong, and everyone was still in the line waiting for the start! That race ended up being the discount for me.
Finishing 28th overall was amazing, but then I also got 2nd place in the bronze fleet! Beating some well established silver fleet sailors. I was made up until I realised that I will now be in silver fleet next year!
Winning 1st MK1 was just a little extra, even if I was the only one.
I urge everyone who gets an opportunity to sail at Blithfield. Great club, great lake.
