Shifty winds and changeable placings!

Sunday 23rd March: Early Spring Series 5/6.
Todays race report from Sailing Secretary Simon Dolman.
Race 1:
The first race kicked off with some drama as a crowd at the favoured starboard end of the start line resulted in a few casualties. The light, shifty winds made for tricky conditions, but they also allowed some sailors to fetch the windward mark directly, gaining an early advantage. Kieran delivered a fantastic performance, sailing to a convincing 1st place finish. Eric Haselden, in his final event at the club before returning to Winsford, put in a strong showing to claim 2nd—what a pleasure its been sailing with you, Eric! You are welcome back anytime. Mark Nield rounded out the podium in 3rd place with a solid and consistent race.
Race 2:
The second race brought more unpredictable, shifty winds, shaking up the leaderboard. Matt Bennett, in only his second outing with his new Solo, found his form after correcting his mast foot position. His refined setup paid off, earning him a well-deserved 1st place finish. Kieran, despite another strong race, was pushed into 2nd, while last weeks double topper Gwyn secured 3rd place in his Laser. Throughout the race, there was plenty of exciting, close competition, with Nick and Brian in their Enterprise frequently getting into the thick of the double-hander action, making for some competitive and tactical racing.
Overall, it was a day of highly competitive racing with ever-changing conditions keeping sailors on their toes. Well done to all!
Overall after 6 races: 1. Jeremy Cooper (Lightning), Gwyn Jones (Laser), Eric Haselden (Supernova)
