The calm and the storm

Week 2 of the Twilight Series - Wednesday 16th April.
Racing Secretary, Simon Dolman, reports on race 2 of the series.
Tonight the sailing was a case of calmness before the storm and unexpected excitement, as the race officer set a thoughtful course based on the light pre-start breeze, including some tactical gybes to keep things interesting. However, as is often the way with sailing, the wind had its own ideas—picking up sharply just before the start. The result? An action-packed evening of fast-paced, technical sailing that kept everyone on their toes!
A huge well done to everyone who took part tonight. The wind proved tricky and shifty, testing not just boat speed but awareness and adaptability. Great sailing all round in challenging conditions.
Special shoutouts this evening go to two fantastic sailors who really stood out:
- Shan Stapley, who handled her Mirror single-handedly with real style and composure, navigating the gusts and shifts like a pro.
- Maisey, who joined us for a practice sail ahead of her racing debut this Sunday. It was brilliant to see her out on the water preparing—please be sure to give her a warm welcome at her first race on Sunday!
Congratulations to our top three finishers: Kieran Lewis 1st in his Aero 5
Conrad Brown 2nd in his Laser
Mark Roberts 3rd in his Laser Radial
Thanks again to all who raced, spectated, and supported. See you on the water Sunday!
Although early in the series the leaders after week 2 are:
1. Ian Duncan (Laser) 4 points
2. Conrad Brown (Laser) 7 points
3. Dave Thomas (Solo) 8 points
