Work Party!

Wow yet another superb turnout for a club work party. Les was inundated with willing volunteers who tackled everything from grass cutting to special projects. Drive the approach road slowly when you next visit to admire the manicured verges.

Special mention to Ian D and his team, including Chris D more normally seen in his Topper! Ian was busy installing the new lake weather system and several high definition cameras that will replace our current webcams and cctv system. Dan Thomas is leading on the project and you may have already seen some trial video streams on this website… we will let you know as soon as the system is fully operational. High level access courtesy of yet another bit of kit from Les. Thanks Les.

Other tasks undertaken included the logging of all berths and boats by Beth and Jude… we still have some lodger boats that need removing! And chief instructor Chris was busy cleaning and rigging the recently donated RS Vision, which will be a superb addition to the club fleet and be ideal for our training courses while Graham was recovering valuable components from deceased boats. 

Of course the key to work party success was keeping the energy levels of members topped-up, with the provision of an almost unlimited supply of cakes and hot drinks, today brought to you by galley expert Clare L and her assistant Julie D. To say the cakes were well received is an understatement. The photo (taken by Julie) shows Ian D fuelling up before getting back to work. Alongside the work party, Karen held a welcome to the club Q@A session. Attended by both new and existing members there were some great questions and plenty of enthusiasm on display!

Still time for members to complete the skills survey. Many thanks to the 37 responders to our member skills survey. Some new faces are already deploying their secret skills on some of our bigger projects. If you dont do online stuff then speak to a committee member on any Sunday and theyll help you share your skills :).
